A THIRD AND FINAL SALES PITCH SHOW
(…yo’…dudes…what happened to that –Foreign Policy – special?)

Last night’s final debate between President Obama and Governor Romney, hyped-up in advance by a Greek chorus of pundits of one kind or another…to be a definitive rumble between the two…turned out to be just another final sales pitch about which one would be the better choice to make in November.

Yo’…dudes…what happened to that –Foreign Policy – special? Talk about a bait-and-switch deal! There was nary a mention about it during most of your show. Zingers about horses and bayonets, and ships and submarines, are hardly relevant to the subject.

What was missing was any kind of serious discussion or reference to what the general thrust of our foreign policy strategy should be as we look ahead to the future and the rest of this 21st Century…and how that might relate to what America’s place in it should be. That would have been a meaningful and useful debate. As it was we voters got nothing of the kind. Well, we shouldn’t be surprised by that. Our political shows of this kind are not meant to deal with realities, but to just create positive perceptions about whoever is running for office.

Besides, we Americans have our priorities straight. This so-called political showdown was competing almost at the same time with much more riveting content…the NFL Bengals and Steelers were hammering each other out on some field somewhere, while on the Left Coast, the Cardinals and the Giants were at it in San Francisco for a spot to go against the Tigers in the upcoming World Series…with the Giants ending up singing and dancing in the rain, while tickets for that event were reportedly being offered on E-Bay for $4500 each! So with that kind of competition, such a lame political debate show was a non-starter.

Oh, what the hell! Where’s those brewskis and brats, folks…American Idol…and …Dancing With The Stars…are coming up next!
