AS THE WORLD TURNS…INTO 2015
(…will it be another endless soap-opera melodrama, or just more merry-go-riding on a grand carousel of mindless unreality…)

We began these series of commentaries on this site five years ago. Now, here we are, wondering if, after all that time, we’ve acquired more than just a monitoring audience of…one…at NSA. It’s hard to say, but according to our analytics reports the answer seems to be, yes, with a modestly growing one in some 26 countries, including (possibly) a couple of Ayatollahs in Iran, as well as a sizable clutch in Brazil (probably because they’ve surmised I’m an avid “aficionado” of real coffer brew, rather than that froo-froo muck Starbucks peddles as…coffee). Yes, we’ve come a long way, but looking back on that track past-travelled we can’t help but marvel at how we’ve managed to do all that.

It’s been a work-in-progress in terms of quantity of output and, especially, in terms of quality, mostly to refine my style and use of English grammar and syntax…which some still maintain I write it as it is spoken…in French…not to mention overcoming tendencies to lapse into occasional crudities of old-Army slang and expression (which still linger on even after so many years removed from that world). To that there was also the need to expand our understanding of the technicalities involved with producing such content for the Internet. Proving that even antique grey matter such as mine can actually learn to do it. Of course, most of the credit for that really belongs to a bright young hi-tech expert who patiently guided and mentored me through that maze…driven by the premise that even an old dog can learn new ways to bury a bone …if given plenty of help to do so.

In the process we’ve accrued quite a pile of “content” on this site. Who knows, we may get around to putting it all together in a hard cover, three-volume set, for those who still prefer holding “books” in their hands rather than just squinting at stuff on a screen. Given the nature of that content, however, it probably will just be a limited edition for those who might care to have such a collection of commentaries…as curbside snapshots about America’s transition from the 20th into these early years of our 21st Century. We shall see.

Well, if you’ll pardon a bit of philosophical reflection here, as the world turns…into 2015… we can only speculate how we’ll move forward into it. Will it be another endless soap-opera melodrama, or just more merry-go-riding on a grand carousel of mindless unreality? We don’t know…probably a bit of both…only time will tell us.

Meanwhile, we’ll just keep on…keeping on.
