DRAFT DODGERS…BIG OF MOUTH…SMALL OF COURAGE…
(…have an amazing lack of grace in understanding what it meant to serve…).

We don’t often react to dumbass remarks by candidates for high political office, mostly shrugging these off as just one more disqualifying mark to keep in mind when it comes time to vote. But, when an ignorant twit of a draft dodger…big of mouth…small of courage… makes disparaging remarks about a veteran…any veteran…then we tend to go into our irate grizzly mode…for their amazing lack of grace in understanding what it meant to serve.

Donald Trump’s dismissive, contemptuous, remarks about Senator McCain shows he is one of those who, by various means and excuses managed to evade and weasel their way out of serving, not for true reasons of conscience, but for purely personal reasons of convenience, or, as one of them, a career politico, once put it “to maintain our political viability for the future”…while too many others had to bleed and die in their place; or else, return home emotionally and physically mangled from that service…to a less than welcoming and “grateful” nation.

We, who are of that precious few band of brothers and sisters, may be far from ever being saints, with most of us more than likely sinners of the worst kind, some even bordering on outright deviltry, but we do share that one amazing grace of being…veterans. Something the likes of Donald Trump and others of his ilk…will never know.
