ADVICE FOR THE POLITICALLY LOVELORN…
(…and have we got some choices to think about for you!)
It’s still way too early to make any predictions about next year’s presidential elections, and who will be the two parties’ choices for we, the electorate at large, to consider for that highest office of our grand republic.
Right now, of course, all we’re hearing and seeing is the usual primary races’ hooting and hollering, pandering and posturing, from both sides, trying to stir our psyches to lean toward one or the other side. And they’ll be spending plenty of money to convince us which one will be the proper choice for us to make in November of 2016. You can be sure of that! Our advice, however, is to ignore all of that campaign spending (at least it will give the economy a good boost) and pay absolutely no attention to it. It’s all irrelevant crap anyway.
As we pointed out in an earlier piece, we weren’t much impressed with what either party was offering us. Between serious doubts about what the Democrats were presenting (Hillary or Bernie…and not much else), or, the Republicans’ offering of a thundering herd of trumpeting pachyderms, led by a wildass tusker named Trump, we had great misgivings about either of those offerings.
But despite all that hullabaloo and fog of political blather there is slowly emerging two sets of offerings which may perhaps best fit the mood of our country. Extremes of either “Left” or “Right” are not what any of us really want. What we’re looking for is a team (from either side) which might offer some kind of vision and serious-minded forward thinking, and most important the possibility of sensible governance and leadership for a change. We want stability…economically…and socially…to help restore our ideals of balance between individual and collective interest. It’s what we need at this moment in our history…and we all know it.
So here’s our advice to the politically lovelorn…have we got some choices to think about for you! Democrat and Republican Party hierarchs please note…follow it and you just might win that presidential prize. Here they are:
- For the Democrats…the best combination ticket their party can offer is V. President Biden for President, with Sen. Elizabeth Warren as his VP running mate. That combination will have the maximum appeal for those of progressive yet sensible persuasion among the voters.
- For the Republicans…the best combination ticket their party can offer is Gov. Kassich of Ohio for President, with Dr. Ben Carson as his VP running mate. That combination will have the maximum appeal for those of conservative, yet sensible persuasion among the voters.
All four of these have a common attribute…what you see is what you get…none are phony …all are sensible, pragmatic, and can clearly relate to the rest of us “common folk.”
Well, if we were the betting type, we would predict that these will probably be the ultimate choices our political parties will get around to offer us next November. And you can bet that any “debates” between these would be more worthwhile to watch than what we’ve seen so far, or is yet to come.
At least we would finally have some “real” choices to choose from, and the rest of the world would realize that we Americans have at last chosen to vote “smart” rather than “dumb”… this time around.
