MUCH LIKE PORNOGRAPHY….TREASON IS HARD TO DEFINE (….but we know it when we encounter it)

Once again, an effective combination of carefully gathered and good intelligence, and high technology, has demonstrated to our enemies that they can run…but they can’t hide. Two rabidly anti-American individuals have been eliminated.

Their deaths by drone and air assets in Yemen was a proper action since it has heavily crippled al Qaeda’s ongoing capabilities to plot attacks against America and its interests, any way and any where it can. The fact that both these individuals were American-born citizens, growing up with all the rights, privileges, and freedoms of being one, makes the treasonous ending of their lives a very sad story. Why did two Americans turn on their country that way?

But turn they did, and ever since they ran off to Yemen they actively engaged in treason against it. And though much like pornography…treason is hard to define….we know it when we encounter it. As defined in Art. III, Section 3 of our Constitution both did advocate hostile if not armed attacks against the United States. Both incited others to do so. Both aided and abetted others to carry out such attacks. Thus, in effect, they both levied war against their country and adhered to its enemies (al Qaeda). And in the context of everything that al Qaeda has done from 9/11 until today, these two represented a clear and present danger to this country. So, as commander-in-chief, the President was well within his constitutional obligations to take action to prevent it.

Simply put, when faced with a mad dog….the Joan Rivers approach (….can we talk?) is not an option. You shoot the poor creature, putting it out of its misery and protecting the rest of the community in the process. Just like mad dogs these two renegades were therefore put down.

Those who are now railing about the President not observing the legal niceties before authorizing that attack are ignoring the realities involved. One can’t help but wonder how much of this legalistic hooha about it has political motivations behind it. Do they really think that if Washington had been able to get his hands on Benedict Arnold, that Arnold would not have been summarily hanged for his treason? Their yammering about it all is specious if not hypocritical.

Nevertheless, if this action is causing them so much heartburn, perhaps a posthumous legal process of trial by military tribunal for treason might be the way to do it. We couldn’t get more legitimate than that!

Meanwhile, two very bad guys have been blown away. Given their proclivity for bombing others….it was poetic justice….if nothing else.
