TIPTOEING FORWARD…
(…with just a smidge of cautious optimism..)

America stands somewhat dinged here and there, after a rather rocky transition into this 21st Century; but still standing nevertheless, and poised now to tiptoe forward from where it is today with just a smidge of cautious optimism.

Frankly, it would be preferable if it had some bolder leadership for that purpose instead, the kind which could help it stride rather than just inch along forward for the rest of what’s left of this century.  More importantly…it desperately needs leadership well able to formulate a coherent narrative to explain how to repair those dings, so our country can not only be what it should be, but also, what its proper place and role must be in this new 21st Century of ours.

Given the way things are in Washington these days, that’s a tall order, nor will it be an easy task to find that kind of leadership which can effectively sheep-herd the conflicting interests it will have to contend with to accomplish all that. It will take both great skill and wisdom to properly re-structure ourselves as a society before we can move on. So that kind of national leadership will also have to be able to articulate those efforts in such a way that everyone, both here and abroad, will have no doubts or misunderstanding about them…or our about intentions.

Some might say that this is a –mission impossible- expectation. Perhaps so, but it won’t happen if we, the tax-paying voters of this country, continue to blindly accept the political pablum both our two major parties keep feeding us. Instead, we should seriously consider breaking their duopoly by re-registering and switching ourselves away from them, as truly – Independent/Unaffiliated voters. If enough of us do so perhaps then…we’ll find that kind of national leadership, rather than the career-focused professional office holders both these parties continue to give us now.

Well, that might be an impossible dream, but as the man from La Mancha sang it…to dream the impossible dream…is the only way to reach an unreachable star.
