NOW HEAR THIS…
(er…it’s your 21st Century Navy speaking…)

The US Navy just announced it’s doing away with its traditional 20th Century telex all-caps text style, and shifting to the less “noisome” lower-case text style of the digital world, for future messaging communications.

Who says our Navy isn’t at the cutting edge of the technological world? Why, before we’ll know it, it will be using “tweets” for those!

Nevertheless, it’s not very likely that it will abandon that tried and true 19th Century communications technology known as – MORSE CODE – such as…dit dit dah dit…dit dit dah…for example, as back up…just in case. Yet it may find that difficult to maintain because there are damn few key-tappers left around who might know how to use it. Such is progress.

Well, our late uncle, of Admiral fame, would probably sneer at all such new-fangled developments because, whenever he was on a bridge deck his hurricane-piercing voice could reach out to everyone on board…and “communicate” in no uncertain ways…with no problems at all.

YOU BETTER BELIEVE IT, MISTER!
