WONDERING IT IT’S A CASE OF A JOKER GONE WILD..
(…or just a sly old brain using the latest tech-toy to keep itself sharp)
Senate “debates” about almost anything can drone on and on, conducted mostly as round-robin opportunities for its members to grandstand on camera, just for the benefit of their constituents back home rather than being true…debate…about anything of significance.
One only needs to look at how those carefully arranged camera angles in its chamber cover just close up views of members pontificating about something or other, rather than letting everyone see how empty all the rest of those other seats all around them are. Hardly anyone else is there. Such things are political theater, nothing more. Real debates are done…behind closed doors.
Is it any wonder then that any other members present on such occasions might seek some sort of entertaining distractions, while awaiting their turns at aping it for the camera’s lens? In such a context, Senator McCain being caught gaming video poker on his Iphone during one of these so-called debates was a very minor peccadillo (compared to what some others have done). At most, it was in the category of a venial sin of classroom inattentiveness, for which he apparently paid a proper penance of thousands…in paper loses.
So, given his “seniority”, rather than wondering if it’s a case of a joker gone wild, maybe it was just a sly old brain using the latest tech-toy to keep itself sharp.
