SETTING HER UP TO FAIL…
(…may be just what la-Lindsey needs..)
Bad-girl celebrity, Lindsey Lohan still seems to be stuck in the negative gear of avoiding the consequences of misbehavior.
By failing to properly complete a relatively soft penalty of 128 hours of community service for such misbehavior, an irate judge has now ordered that she complete the remaining 115 hours of that community service in only eleven days. Given her record of non-performance to date, however, setting her up to fail…may be just what la-Lindsey needs.
Frankly, given her previous record of DUI’s and other behavioral episodes, we can’t help but wonder why she received this kind of “leniency” deal in the first place. But as we have seen much too often, if you’re some kind of celebrity, and big-money interests are involved, and if anything short of outright murder is your offense…you can get special consideration from our judiciary. The kind we non-celebrity mortals would never receive if we had committed similar offenses against the public order.
Even more disturbing is that she is to perform that service at a children’s day care center, instead of at some kind of low-life facility where she would be cleaning out latrines. What was that judging thinking? She certainly is not a “role model” for young minds to emulate. The only reason we can think of that guided that judge’s choice of such a venue for her was because…even at 28 she still hasn’t displayed any signs of having “grown up”… so by placing her among a bunch of little kids that would be putting her among her “age peers.” Perhaps so… but that’s not being very kind to those little kids, who are probably much more “grown up” than what she has shown herself to be.
What Lindsey, and others like her, really need is a bit of the “aversion therapy” that comes from jail time as the consequence of their misbehaviors. Neither their celebrity status nor their money should have any bearing on how they have to pay for any transgressions. In this instance, however, that judge may have done her a favor. If she fails to complete her community service as ordered, that aversion therapy of actual jail time, may finally cause her to become a responsible…grown up.
