SOME SAY WE’RE NOT THE RESULT OF EVOLUTION
(…just the end-product of experimental bio-engineering by extra-terrestrials)
You can encounter all sorts of oddball ideas and views (including ours…no doubt), out there in the blogosphere and social media universe, with some being more outlandish and even weirder than others. The latest of these circulating in those environments is a twist on the creationist view about the origin of humanity. That is, we are not the result of evolution…just the end-product of experimental bio-engineering by extra-terrestrials (aliens) who came here on Earth for that purpose, from a highly advanced civilization somewhere out there in the universe.
It’s an intriguing, though highly dubious, proposition, because the proponents of it don’t give us any explanation about why such supposedly higher order of beings would go to all that bother to seek out this tiny blue planet of ours…to do so. It’s a rather remote choice of habitat for conducting such an experimental project. Then again, much like our scientific types are doing today, they simply threw their version of a dart at a presumed “goldilocks” zone of the universe and, voila, Earth was it. As to what their motives for such an enterprise, it could have been as simple as a case of curiosity of the “what if…” kind to see what might result from it might be. Either that or, much as we have here ourselves, they had similar NIMBY problems, forcing them to go find such a remote venue to conduct their project.
In any event, the proponents of this idea further claim that those biblical stories about Adam and Eve are simply species-memory of those alien’s first proto-types humans from their experiments. Logical an explanation as that might be, they ignore the fossil evidence of hominids like –Lucy- of Olduvai, in East Africa, which existed over some two million years ago, or, of more recent species such as the – Neanderthals – who preceded us – Homo Sapiens by a few hundred thousand years. Surely these qualify as “proto-types” as well.
Frankly, being described as just another form of GMO tinkering by a bunch of space cadets, coming here from somewhere in the boondocks of the universe, is not a very flattering way to define ourselves. Retaining our pretensions of having been created in “God’s image” just does a lot more for maintaining our self-esteem; but, if we truly are result of such GMO tinkering, those alien space cadets didn’t really think things through about what the unintended consequences might be from their efforts…especially what the negative environmental impacts these would have on our Earth world over time. One needs only to look around to see the proof of that.
All of which doesn’t say much for the state of the art of whatever technology such highly advanced beings had…or might have had…when they first came here. Of course, after seeing how things have actually turned out here on Earth, like ET, they left, never to return, going back to their drawing boards, so to speak, and try it all over again for a better outcome…somewhere else.
