THE STIMULUS OPERATION WAS A SUCCESS!

(but the economy remains in ICU, and we haven’t a clue how or when it will recover)

The recent pronouncements coming from various assorted experts, pundits, and politicos, back there in Washington, that the recession ended last year, in 2009, seems to be another one of those –Beltway Insider – good-news-bad-news jokes. So, how come none of us are laughing?

They claim the stimulus operation was a success, because they stopped the financial system’s bleeding, yet, the economy remains in ICU, and we haven’t a clue how or when it will recover. The banks are still sitting on all that stimulus bailout pile of cash. Industry and small-businesses still aren’t hiring much (uncertain about when that other tax shoe might drop, and when it does, whether it will be a size 9 or size 13). Meanwhile, unemployment and foreclosures are still at less than happy levels, and our deficits are accumulating faster than a speeding chipmunk….on speed.

Yes, folks, the good times they are a-rolling back for us, just you wait and see. It’s all due to the power of positive thinking. It can overcome any illusions about reality.

How re-assuring is that!
