WHAT HATH CONGRESS WROUGHT?
(…not much…beyond cobbling together a fiscal band-aid to justify itself)

With a last gasp of doing nothing worthwhile for the country, our glorious 2012 Congress ended its session with a bit of kabuki performance; some, might even go so far as to say…it’s just played the part of a drama queen for most of the post-election period.

So what hath Congress wrought? Not much…beyond cobbling together a fiscal band-aid to justify itself…without actually facing up to the real problem at all.  In short, just as it has done for the past four years it has kicked the problem down the road for someone else to deal with later.

Nor has the President or his attack point-man in Congress, the Vice President, done much to address the real problem either, preferring instead to play the class-warfare card through the entire campaign and election cycle, to this moment still.  As for the Republicans, they simply wimped out altogether in the face of Norquist political extortions to abide by his taxation ideologies rather than using their common sense…or else.

Sorry, folks, we, the taxpayers have been ill-served by them all. And from the looks of things the incoming 2013 Congress may be just as un-serving to us, if not worse, and the fault…is totally our own because we’re the sheep-brained critters who keep voting for these career political HO-HO’s term, after term, after term, after term.

To be blunt about it, we’ll never get our financial house in order unless we face up to the fundamental problem of reforming the existing tax code. Until that happens…nothing will change for the better. Everything else is largely irrelevant. So if we really want things to change, we better start hammering on all these politicos…with phone calls, letters, emails, texts, tweets, and whatever means we want or have, as a virtual horde of irate villagers with pitchforks and torches, ready to clear them out. They might then listen to our demands (well, like I said, I’m literally from Missouri, so I wouldn’t hold my breath about that).

As I’ve mentioned before, and I don’t know about anyone else but…I’m tired of having to make do with lean cuisine…while they keep on keeping on…living fat.
