SQUABBLING OVER BUDGETS
(letting ideologies over ride commonsense….)
If ever there was a case for voters to abandon their affiliations with these two parties of ours, the present situation in Congress on how to resolve our budgetary problems….makes it conclusive. Both the Democrats and the Republicans are playing political roulette with each other at the expense of our country’s financial health.
They keep squabbling about budgets much like two jackasses braying at each other over a pile of hay….letting ideologies over ride commonsense. Meanwhile, the entire government apparatus is facing slowing down to a snail’s pace if not coming to a screeching halt….that is….forced to shut down.
As I’ve mentioned before, democracy lets us vote –dumb- as well as –smart- and in this instance, at the last election, we apparently voted in a congregation of legislative nimrods that prove that….absolutely! Granted, there are a few exceptions here and there among both parties, but their voices are largely drowned out by the rest of their bellowing colleagues who seem to prefer stampeding themselves over cliffs….than otherwise.
Of course, they try to calm we taxpaying voters’ anxieties about all that, conning us with pious pronouncements that only “non-essential” federal workers would be temporarily furloughed (in street language that means….laid off….and maybe never being brought back…or paid for it).
Well, if by “non-essential” they mean to include the entire Congress, that, indeed, would certainly bring down our anxieties, because eliminating its costs from the available revenues (if only for a short while) would take a big bite….a very big bite….out of the Deficit.
Works for me!
