THE MURDEROUS MADNESS
(….of a midsummer nightmare without rationality)

The recent terror event in Oslo, Norway, is a shocker.

Why would anyone have such extreme disdain and hostility towards their own culture and society? Norway has long been highly admired as a model of what a civil society should be and well evolved from the –viking- forays of its past history. So, such murderous madness can only be the result of a midsummer nightmare without rationality.

Or is it?

This was apparently a carefully planned, calculated, and executed rampage, combining a massive bomb blast with a cold-blooded, methodical, killing spree of innocent unarmed youths enjoying a summer camp-out on a popular nearby island. All of that driven by some perverted sense of his fellow countrymen’s betrayal of Norwegian culture and values. If such mindsets are not –insanity- then what is?

The perpetrator now sits smugly in an Oslo jail cell, proud of his barbarous mayhem, as if it were some kind of heroic act. Such conceit is anything but heroic. His act was that of a coward unable to live up to his own so-called convictions, by following the truly heroic example of a young Tunisian man, whose public self-immolation sparked a massive revolt against the tyrannies of the kleptocratic regime running his country, and launching that tsunami flood of – the Arab Spring – across that entire region of this world (which is still going on).

No, this madman is not a hero, but only a pathetic nonentity with neither merit nor worth of any kind. Norwegian justice should as swiftlyas possible relegate him into as total obscurity as possible. The sooner his very existence has been expunged from Norway’s consciousness, the better. Not that the deed should ever be forgotten, only the perpetrator.

Unfortunately too many of his ilk still roam free among us, their minds twisted and perverted by the extreme rhetoric of their single issue mindsets of one kind or another, unable to accept anything but absolutes for such issues. Absolutes that lead them down the slippery slope of xenophobia, These are the real betrayers, not just of Norway, but of all….humanity.
