BAD BOYS, BAD BOYS, WHATCHA GONNA DO….
(when your internet capers catch up to you?)

Congressman Weiner is the latest of our politicos, and other VIPs, to become ensnared by the stupidity of their internet activities. For supposedly very intelligent and savvy individuals one has to wonder why the internet somehow turns them into dumbass twits, tweeting, texting, and otherwise acting up like animal-house frat boys, all the while ignoring a fundamental fact about the internet and any of its collateral applications, which is:

THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS PRIVACY ON THE INTERNET!

Well, perhaps the real problem with such people is not the internet itself. What happens is that people like Congressman Weiner, because of their VIP prominence or celebrity status, become full of themselves, start believing their own publicity, and, feel that they are thus immune from the normal behavioral constraints applied to the common herd. Call it –hubris- or – hutzpah- or whatever, it always comes down to this paraphrase of the title theme for a well-known TV show:
