SHE WALKED IN BEAUTY….
(….her voice….an aurora borealis of sound)
Many music artists flash through this world of ours, like brilliant comets streaking across our skies, dazzling us with their display of virtuosity.
For these, superlatives of description come easily to our minds as we quantify the quality of their existence. But, for a few, a very few, we can’t come up with any that could do them justice. They simple….are…and for that we can only rejoice of it, no matter how brief their stay with us may be.
All of which brings to mind the memory of a long ago late summer’s night, camped out with a girl on a high mountaintop in Maine. Flat on our backs there, we gazed up at clear star-sprinkled skies when, suddenly, from over the horizon, there came an overwhelming show of Northern Lights.
With swirling, flashing, dancing lights they enveloped us with their glow of every possible hue, color, and form, taking our breaths away. It seemed like they might go on forever; but, just as suddenly as they had come….they vanished….leaving the night skies dark again, and we….dazed by it all.
Such was Whitney Huston. She walked in beauty….her voice….an aurora borealis of sound.
