PARSING THE ELECTORATE BY TOO MUCH PLURIBUS NOT ENOUGH UNUM
(so…who the hell are we…and whatever happened to just plain 100% American?)
Both the Obama and Romney campaigns have gone overboard in their attempts to sway voters their way in November. They’ve both been parsing the electorate by too much pluribus not enough unum. So, who the hell are we…and whatever happened to just plain 100% American?
First, they kicked things off by yapping about the “1%” and the other “99%”. Next, they made snide remarks about the “47%” but, for some reason, failed to mention or say much about the remaining “53%” beyond that. I don’t know about anyone else out there in voter land, but all of that –percentage- stuff has left me confused as hell. As a “100%” American, where do I fit into those campaign equations of theirs? Well, maybe both parties need to be sent back for a remedial course in – E Pluribus Unum – (101).
Frankly, perhaps we “100%” Americans should teach them both a hard lesson about that in November. Here’s how I plan to do that:
1) When I get my sample ballot, the first thing I’m going to do is grab a black sharpie marker pen.
2) The second thing I’ll do is use that pen to black out every Democrat and Republican candidate’s name running for every office from President down to local Sheriff or Dog Catcher.
3) Having done all that, I’ll then go back and scan any other candidate’s names remaining for those offices and…pick one of those instead.
The way things are, and how poorly both parties have been doing for us, with neither offering us anything other than more political hype and BS, and further gridlock and disunity, I figure by voting this way for some unaffiliated independents the odds are they can’t really do any worse…and…they just might do a hell of a lot better for all us… 100% Americans.
