WE…THE TAXPAYING VOTERS…
(…are the real cause of partisan gridlock in Washington)

Every bobble head on TV news, every pundit posting Op-Ed items in the print media, every talk show host, not to mention all those social media addicts who rave and rant about outlandish conspiracy factoids, or who indulge in misinformed rumor-mongering of one kind or another…have it all wrong.

The real cause of partisan gridlock in Washington is not just because the two major parties keep playing political one-upmanship games with each other. It’s we…the taxpaying voters of our country…who allow it to go on. As a long time friend and former business associate often states it so well….it’s all because of those “deadwood” Americans… those who prefer to sit on their asses, living the good life (or what they can grab of it, that is), while letting a bunch of career politicos handle the day to day grunge work of running this republic of ours.

But as time has gone on, being clever little rascals, those career politicos have figured that with that kind of loose oversight and control, and hardly any demure from those same taxpayers, they can pretty well do what they want with impunity. So, they have morphed themselves into a well-padded-with-green elitist class of privilege, more concerned with staying in office as long as they possibly can, to feed at the trough of “public service”… instead of taking care of business for the benefit of the country as a whole.

So we should not be surprised about the sorry state of our national condition. We’re the idiots who not only put them in office in the first place, but also, the same idiots who keep re-electing them term after term, after term, after term. And as long as we allow that to be the case not only will nothing ever change…our red, white, and blue republic may soon become just another…yellow banana republic… instead.

Well, tomorrow is election day, so we should think long and hard about all this, and be very, very, careful about who and what we vote for…because we could end up getting everything we won’t get.
