THE ASHLEY MADISON HACKING CAPER…
(…outing people behaving badly…)

Hackers are to the internet universe what cockroaches are to anyone’s home. Sooner or later, no matter how carefully things are kept clean, tidy, or secure, they’ll pop up. To be blunt about it, hackers are essentially anarchists with little or no moral qualms about applying their cyber skills in criminal or other ways having few, if any, redeeming social values.

Knowing that, one would think that otherwise intelligent people would think twice about joining up with such sites as Ashley Madison…a latter-day internet version of the 60’s spouse or partner-swapping parties, where hotel or bedroom keys were jumbled in a bowl, to let participants “make out” with someone else’s “other” rather than their own. In this case, that site was set up to facilitate extra-marital connections and affairs of one kind or another, any of its membership might want. Membership was for a fee of course…which leads us to speculate on whether such a “service” might qualify as “pimping”.

In any event the Ashley Madison hacking caper is another case of…outing people behaving badly. Conspiracy buffs of course will be convinced that the whole thing was just an extremely clever and diabolical way the divorce attorney community devised…to gin up business.

Moral of the story…celebrity or not…if you’re going to play around…keep your play times off the internet…hackers are always lurking in the shadows…ready to pounce.

C’est la vie…digital!
