IF WE REALLY WANT CHANGE…QUIT BITCHING AND START SWITCHING…
(…and freak out all those pachyderms and jackasses…in the process)

Our political duopoly has had its respective conventions. These are now both over, but have left both of their rank and file memberships not particularly enthused or happy about what those conventions produced as nominees for the upcoming presidential elections in November. Frankly, neither is anyone else out here in tax-paying voter country.

We’re all still crying in our beers about such an outcome, groaning and moaning about how those career politicos in Washington are out of touch and no longer responsive to our needs and wants as tax-payers…and all those who are whining about it are…RIGHT… except for one thing. They’re overlooking or ignoring the fact that they’re complaining and ranting against the wrong culprits. It’s not those overlords of the establishments of those two political parties who have brought us to the sorry situation we have today.

The real culprits are us…the tax-paying voters. It’s our own fault, not theirs. Here’s why: we’re not only the ones who put them in office in the first place, we’re also the idiots who’ve kept them there, term after term, after term. What did we reasonably expect to be the result from doing so? Our addiction to vote strictly along party lines has gulled us into accepting their party agendas. To expect “change” from that is much like the definition of insanity… doing the same thing over and over again…while expecting a different outcome.

Back in 2008 we allowed ourselves to be stampeded down one garden path by a very slick bit of demagoguery, using enticing and evocative word pictures to make us believe that would produce a grand tomorrow of “change” for us. This time, in 2016, we have instead a thundering brand of demagoguery from a self-styled maverick attempting to lead us down a different garden path toward so-called “change,” by expertly playing upon our collective xenophobic angst to do so. Unfortunately the only antidote against that is a sly puss-in-boots career politica offering us the equivalent of a “free lunch” for everyone…and paying the tab for that with OPM (other people’s money)…and greater debt. So how then can we expect either of these choices to give us true “change”? Sorry, folks, they can’t…and won’t.

If we really want change…it’s time to quit bitching and start switching…and freak out all those pachyderms and jackasses…in the process. So when we get our sample ballots in the mail…let’s all just grab a black marker pen…black out every Democrat or Republican running for whatever office…from dog catcher to President. After that, go back and look over what’s left on the ballot to choose from, and pick one of those instead. The way things are our theory is that…while these might not do better by us…they certainly can’t do any worse than what’s being offered to us today.
