IS HE A WOULD-BE CAESAR?
(…maybe not…)
Early in the 2016 election cycle we wrote of Donald Trump as being…a man who would be Caesar.
We’re sorry to say that seems to be the case, because of his streams of invective-laden tweets to the twitter-world in which he attacks any who either displease or oppose him in any way (especially when it concerns various media personalities).
Then again…maybe not. Considering his loose cannon incoherent shoot-from-the-hip style of governance since his election, comparing him to ancient Rome’s Caesar may be doing that historical one a terrible injustice. After all, Rome’s Caesar was a very strongly disciplined personality, one whose military and political moves were always very carefully calculated. Which is not what we have here today.
So perhaps a more apt comparison for what the voters installed in the Oval Office for the next four years is to say he’s more like a…Nero…instead. But, as we all can recall from our history stories about that character, as a self-proclaimed musical “artiste”, Nero just fiddled while Rome burned to the ground all around him…and that’s not the most desirable perspective we should have to contemplate about any President of ours.
Well, as we’ve often stated before…democracy…allows folks to vote dumb as well as smart, and they certainly seem to have done so…this time around.
